ABOUT THE PLACENew Braunfels is the tubing capitol of texas. This is the home of Schlitterbahn, the best waterpark in the U.S.A. It is also home to the Guadalupe and Comal rivers which are the most popular tubing rivers probably in the world. Texans have defined the art of tubing, and there are probably hundreds of tubing outfitters in this city. I don't even have any recommendations because I can never remember which place I last tubed at. Suffice to say that you'll have no trouble finding an outfitter since they're EVERYWHERE. Every November New Braunfels is the site of Wurstfest - a two week long celebration of German heritage and sausage. It's basically Oktoberfest in November, and it's more fun than any other Octoberfest in Texas. This event is huge! Lots and lots of German food, beer, and music. On the outskirts of the city is Gruene which is a quaint shopping town.
HOW TO GET THERETake 35 south for about 45 minutes.
