ABOUT THE PLACEThis is a tough place to rate. There really isn't much in Johnson City, and many of the places that made it interesting seem to be out of business now. This is not a place you want to actually "plan" on visiting one day, but rather it makes for a really good stop on your way to Fredericksburg. There are a few remaining antique shops here, and that's about it. The LBJ Ranch is here, but it's not much of a destination. Maybe worth seeing once I suppose. I will say this, however. Johnson City has a pretty impressive Christmas Light display in the town square area. Below is a picture of one of the schools that was all lit up, but there's a lot more too.
HOW TO GET THERETake 290 past Dripping Springs and keep following the signs to Fredericksburg or Johnson City.
PICTURESThe pictures below were taken a while back, and most of what you see no longer exists. |
