ABOUT THE PLACEFredericksburg is one of the best, if not the best, tourist towns in Texas. It has great food, great shopping, and lots of events, especially in early fall. Main Street in Fredericksburg is a long road with shopping and restaurants as far as the eye can see, and the buildings are all old 1880's German pioneer structures with a very historical feel. This is one of the more romantic settings in Texas and there are a bounty of Bed & Breakfast Inns all over town and in surrounding areas. There is so much to see and do in this city that it is hard to describe it all here, so I will recommend that you visit the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce web site since they have detailed information about everything in that city. However, I will make a few special recommendations:
HOW TO GET THEREJust get onto 290 and keep driving and following the signs to Fredericksburg until you get there. When you enter the city, 290 becomes Main Street so park wherever you can. It takes about 70-90 minutes to get there from Austin.
