In Zilker Park a section of Barton Springs has been transformed into a natural swimming pool. It is a beautiful site to see, but nothing beats actually getting in the water. Since the water is from a natural spring, it is not only very clean, but it is also very cold... about 68 degrees year-round.
Normally it costs a few dollars to get in, but they have free night swimming starting at 9pm (at least they did last time I was there), and on weekends you may have to also pay for parking at Zilker, but at night and on weekdays parking is free. I highly recommend swimming in Barton Springs at night - there is something really relaxing about it, and it is very surreal. Try it and you'll know what I mean, however, you'll probably only want to do this on a hot summer night since the water really is bone-chilling.
Head in to Zilker Park on Barton Springs Road and then just follow the signs to Barton Springs.
Coming soon......
