Palmetto State Park is one of those places with a lot of potential, but it doesn't quite get there. It's a beautiful area, but there just isn't much to do in the park. The hiking trails are short and flat, but they are quite lush. The camping areas are nice, but it gets very muddy, so only camp there if it's dry out. I can't really recommend this park unless you're in the Luling area and just want to stop by for a peek.
Take 183 South to Luling and then turn left after the railroad tracks. Follow the highway 6 or 8 miles until you see the park sign.
